Mark and his crew built my studio in 2005-2006. Here I am writing this 15 years later, and the studio is STILL functioning like the first day I moved in! Mark was able to take my unfinished basement of 1500 sq. ft, and lay out a space that can accommodate full bands. Instead of building 1 large live room, we built a smaller live room along with 3 iso rooms. The original intention was to place the drums in the largest iso room, and use the main live room for everything else. Over time, the main room has become my drum room because I can adjust the room to sound big or small. Clients love that aspect. If we want a tight drum sound, we close all the doors. If we want rock n roll drums, open the doors and put a mic in the hallway! Because my studio is in a basement, we were limited with a ceiling height of 8-10 ft. I am still amazed at how Mark used his acoustic expertise to rake the ceilings at unusual angles, and make the rooms feel and sound larger than they really are. I have produced everything from heavy metal to bluegrass, and every client walks away happy.
Mark was amazing to work with. He had so many cool, creative ideas to help me stay within my budget while still getting an incredible looking, and most importantly, sounding room. He also taught me a lot along the way.
At the recommendation of a friend we secured the services of Mark Wenner, an acoustician and general contractor, to remodel big portions of the building in a cost effective and timely manner. It’s no small exaggeration to say that Mark saved the day and we continue to work with him on a number of small and large projects.
Mark built a commercial studio into new construction....which was also our home. Westpark Sound....it has stood the test of time and served a lot of great clients. Sounds great....functions great....has accommodated the changes in technology and served us well. The decisions Mark made were exactly right for our time, money and circumstances. How many things in your life are almost 20 years old and you're still happy with them. Thank you Mark.....you did more than you said you would do and a lot more than you were paid for....no doubt!! Here's to more sessions and years of happy clients!
From day one until completion, Mark made our job of building a first rate studio simple. From design to facilitation, Studio Construction Service handled every aspect of constructing Thirteen Degrees Studio with extreme attention to every detail. From a raw space, Mark designed and developed an incredibly accurate and creatively comfortable studio environment for us, and our clients. We constantly receive kudos for such a terrific room. We have tracked sessions, done overdubs, mixed projects and even mastered projects with point blank accuracy. We are eternally grateful to Mark for his dedication to his craft of studio design and construction.
All we asked Mark of Studio Construction Service to provide us with, was a design, and to build 2000 sq/ft of demo studio and writer rooms for our publishing company, Provident Music Group. The day it was finished, we started making great records out of here! It’s way beyond our expectations.
All I wanted was a comfortable atmosphere where I could hear in any part of the room, because when you work alone a lot, you may be at any position in the room. You don’t want to be able to mix from every position, but you at least have to be able to hear. This is basically a synth room – making everything accessible to one person is the most important part of it. That’s basically the project I gave them, and they were able to accomplish it. When we took this latest record to Bernie Grundman (a well known mastering engineer in Los Angeles), he said, ‘Hey! You guys have a flat record here.’ I don’t know how they did it, but they pretty much designed a flat room; at least that’s what the experts are saying.
Mark, if Picasso designed studios, he’d only have one competitor – Thanks for an incredible studio!
