Mark Wenner founded Studio Construction Service in Los Angeles in 1986, quickly gaining the reputation of a general contractor specializing in recording studio construction who employed creative solutions and building success. Since ‘92 – Mark has been traveling around the country helping producers, composers, record labels, etc. in need of acoustic consultation, design and construction of facilities, ranging from high-end residential acoustic projects, to larger commercial production facilities. Many of today’s iconic music creators and artists in the business are still proudly pounding out their creations in the same rooms Mark and SCS created more than 30 years ago!
The equipment in the studios I create may change over time, but the acoustical design and construction are built to last.
1994 – the decision was made by Mark, and his wife (who’s career is also in the music industry) and their son would make their full time residence in Nashville. Wenner’s initial projects were Maypop Music Studio and writer rooms for the group Alabama, then to designing and general contracting the creation of the new “Studio B” for Emerald Recording Studios on famed Music Row. The need for both commercial and residential studios was obvious at that time, and the city’s creative community since that time continues to grow rapidly. Mark Wenner and his roster of specialized architects, engineers, sub-contractors, acoustic and audio manufacturers continue to propel SCS to dive deeper into satisfying the need that exists for SCS’s professional services. Be it, recording studios, home theaters or performance venues, we continue to develop direction and solutions for the audio industry. Studio Construction Service, Inc. now celebrates it’s 33rd year anniversary.
Studio Construction Service, Inc. has specialized exclusively in recording studio services for more than years, which has honed our field experience and fine tuned the techniques we developed and use today. Studio Construction Service can confidentially guide you through every step of the design and building process.
From the initial consultation and phases of design, interfacing with local building departments, which sets a real foundation for the build, to commissioning the studio with custom acoustics and final laser alignment of the monitor speaker systems. All this and more can be considered within the scope of our projects work.
You don’t know where to start? We do, and consultations set in motion the initial steps in the program, thereby saving everyone’s time and money.
Our experience is derived from years of using CAD (computer-aided design) and virtual 3D modeling software while collaborating with a wide variety of architects and engineers to improve the quality of design, documentation, and overall communication.
SCS is fully licensed, bonded, and insured as general contractors in the state of Tennessee. When working in other states and countries, we collaborate with local licensed professionals and contractors in your region.
We work with your contractors to ensure building plans are executed to the exact specifications unique to sound proof construction.
Floor, wall, ceiling designs, acoustic doors, windows, quiet air-conditioning systems, and acoustic treatment are critical in designing and building studios. Accurate designs implemented with specialized construction techniques are precursors to success.
A well constructed room will still need to be tuned. Custom made, clouds, traps, diffusers, and wide band absorbers make a room sound great.
Mark designed and developed an incredibly accurate and creatively comfortable studio environment for us, and our clients. We constantly receive kudos for such a terrific room with point blank accuracy. We are eternally grateful to Mark for his dedication to his craft of studio design and construction.

I don’t know how they did it, but they pretty much designed a flat room; at least that’s what the experts are saying.

Mark was amazing to work with. He had so many cool, creative ideas to help me stay within my budget while still getting an incredible looking, and most importantly, sounding room. He also taught me a lot along the way.

Westpark Sound has stood the test of time and served a lot of great clients. Sounds great....functions great....has accommodated the changes in technology and served us well. The decisions Mark made were exactly right for our time, money and circumstances.

At the recommendation of a friend we secured the services of Mark Wenner to remodel big portions of the building in a cost effective and timely manner. It’s no small exaggeration to say that Mark saved the day and we continue to work with him on a number of small and large projects.
Warren Pettit
Mark and his crew built my studio in 2005-2006, and here I am writing this 15 years later. I am still amazed at how acoustic expertise can make the rooms feel and sound larger than they really are. I'm producing everything from heavy metal to bluegrass, and every client walks away happy.
Andrew Hooker
We asked Mark to design a 2000 sq/ft demo studio and writer rooms for our publishing company, Provident Music Group. The day it was finished, we started making great records out of here! It’s way beyond our expectations.
