Walk into a beautiful recording studio environment and the three primary things most people areimmediately aware of are, the doors, talent windows, and the acoustics. Naturally the equipment is impressive, but equipment’s only one important component in the acoustical formula. Studio Construction Service, Inc. has been busy developing and fabricating a complete line of studio components
ready to complete your studio to the highest degree of standards.
Ideally, during construction, an air tight seal was created in the building process.
Other than penetrations made in the seal, (the rooms “shell”) might be for air conditioning ductwork, low voltage
wire “raceways, or the, you got it, “door and windows”. Completion of that sound seal can only be accomplished
by using door and window systems that equal the rating of those walls in which they’re installed.

 Studio doors are typically solid core in nature, and unless the studio requires a
single door, (which uses laminated solid core doors), the best way to raise the sound attenuating class of the wall and door system is to use two doors on two mechanically separated walls. You knew that already. There are also pre fabricated door manufacturers out there, that make very cool systems, but from our past experience, you better have a truck, forklift, and 4 able bodied men (or women) to help you install that day.
 Our solution is simple, and it’s in the form of the right door, hinges, hardware, jam detail, sealant material, and acoustic threshold and door stop seals. In between the double wall systems door jambs is usually a soft cloth panel, which isolates the two walls from coupling, and also allows the sound pressure that makes it through the first door, to be sonically absorbed by the acoustic treatment panel. Imagine a bass drum head exciting the second head. Door sizing is standard with 3’0’s, 40”, 42” up to 4’, but beyond that, you may think about another approach. The door height is usually 6’8”, and 7’. With or without a glass panel, and painted or stained.

| Glass in a door is recommended, and can serve two purposes. First, it allows an artist to see into other production areas, thereby eliminating the need for a more costly talent window. Secondly, it allows daylight or spaciousness into the creative environment. |

 Windows have always been problematic, whereas doors, you can purchase at many different suppliers. Talent windows are impossible to find, and when you do, are they built right? Our windows are, and usually the sound abatement coefficient, or the NTC we achieve surpasses the walls we design.
 Glass can be purchased throughout the world and installed, to a degree by qualified suppliers, with direction. But the frame and the direction that it takes is specific, and usually the most common mistake in the rooms we see out there in the real world.
 Classic window systems is what we produce, and the kind you’d see if you went into the beautiful studio in Los Angeles or Nashville. Hopefully it’s one of ours. Solid woods and laminated glass of various thickness, with inner acoustic panels that will dazzle your brain.
